Social Rats for a Social world

THis page will be updated soon.

When you bring your new rat home, there are a few things you may want to keep in mind:

Have your home ready for them - If possible, please have their new cage set up and ready for them befor eyou adopt your new rats. This way, when they come home, you can immediately place them into their new home and give them time to adjust to it.

Give them time to adjust - like with any animal, rats will get stressed by the move from one home to another. THe more moves, the more stressed they can get.  Let them have 24 to 36 hours after coming home, to relax and de-stress from the move. Don't mess with them too much, let them get used to their new surroundings, including normal everyday sounds and smells.

Introducutions to existing rats - After a quarantine period, youw ill want to (especiallyw ith males) take things slow with introducing them to your existing rats. For females, the introduction period will most likely be shorter, under a week. For males it can be longer.
