Meet our Boys, from little cutie to big heffer rat, we love them all
A completion of our pets, both breeding and not, this is our boys. This includes our boys who our own pets, some of our babies bred here and some of our disabled babies. As you read below, some of our ratties have more involved stories than others. Some of them carry certain genes, some of them, while not remarkable, are loved no less than the others, although I have to admit, Smudge is my favorite, but that may be because of the time we spend with him and with his wonderful personality.

Squishy and Smudge 6/2/09 Smudge 4/23/09

Smudge was injured during birth and when we discovered he was missing his 2 back legs, we did not know what to do. Do we end his life and prevent any suffering he may have, or do we let the Goddess decide in her wisdom if he should survive? We chose to let the Goddess chose if he should survive. Originally named Stumpy, we changed it later, once we got to know his personality a bit to Smudge, because alot of his markings look like he was painted and the paint smudged. Smudge is a verigated black and agouti. As you can see, he is very gentle and loving, otherwise our daughter would never had let us put him in her shirt, where she stashes everything she can get her hands on. Smudge does not let his diability slow him down too much, while he can not jump or run, he can still climb short distances and he does crawl, for a few minutes, in the wheel in his cage. He is very well tempered and very loving. He is taken out of his cage more often than anyone else because, due to his lack of back legs, can not scratch himself, so needs help in that area. Sometimes his cage maters are willing to help, other times he requires human help, so he comes out from 3 to 6 times a day, if for no other reason, to get scratched and groomed a bit. It is so cute, he is like a dog, when you hit the right spot, the head will tilt and one of his little stumps will start going. Smudge is Taffy and Mac's son. Mac has been neutered and rehomed due to hormone issues and a foster who fell in love with him.
